On Wednesday, the hockey world is mourning the loss of an alumni member at age 92.
An old-timer who made his debut back in 1967 has sadly left us all.
Roger Picard passes at 92
"The NHL Alumni Association is saddened to learn that Roger Picard has passed away at the age of 92.
A right winger from Quebec, Roger enjoyed a successful career in the Quebec Senior Hockey League before making it to the NHL in 1967.
Roger signed with the expansion St. Louis Blues ahead of their inaugural season in 1967-68, making his NHL debut on October 11, 1967, at home against the Minnesota North Stars. Less than one month later, on November 4, Roger scored his first career NHL goal. For all but one of his 15 games he played with the Blues, Roger took the ice alongside his younger brother, Noel Picard.
After his time in St. Louis, Roger's hockey career continued across other professional leagues in North America, concluding after the 1968-69 season.
Roger served as a head coach in the Quebec Junior «A» Hockey League (QJAHL) in 1973-74, and would later spend three seasons coaching in the QMJHL from 1981 to 84.
We send our deepest condolences to Roger's family, friends, and former teammates during this difficult time."
