Last-minute announcement by the Detroit Red Wings: they've changed their logo for the special season

A few Detroit Red Wings fans shared their thoughts on the team's new logo ahead of the upcoming Centennial season after the organization's massive announcement.
The Detroit Red Wings will celebrate their 100th season in the NHL in the 2025-26 campaign. Earlier today, they officially launched a season-long Centennial celebration to honor their legendary history.
Red Wings President Ryan Gustafson made a public statement as the team released its new logo:
"The vision for Centennial was to create opportunities for fans to relive their favorite moments and celebrate the people that make Red Wings hockey so special. In addition to these events, we are excited to host dozens of alumni at Little Caesars Arena for dedicated games in celebration of the eras that they played in. Today's announcement highlights several core activations for fans to put on their calendars, while more details and further programming will be shared in the coming months."
But among all these announcements, it's the new Centennial logo that has generated the most reactions, with mixed comments from fans.
Some fans have welcomed the redesign, praising its balance of tradition and modernity. Others have expressed disappointment, feeling that the Winged Wheel should never be altered. And then, there's a third group of fans who simply don't care about the logo, as long as the team keeps improving and ends its playoff drought.
The vast majority want to see the team perform better and don't care about a new logo.
Even though longtime fans of the organization will surely appreciate seeing the franchise revisit the team's past success, what they truly want to see is General Manager Steve Yzerman making several additions in the offseason to put his team in a position to win next season.
