An official date has been set for the Detroit Red Wings' annual trip to Grand Rapids for a special event.

Red Wings fans have a lot to be excited about going into the 2025-26 season. Moritz Seider, Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin, Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, and Simon Edvinsson are entering another campaign together, the first full year under head coach Todd McLellan.
Not only that, but Steve Yzerman was able to bring in a valuable player to the roster: John Gibson.
In an official announcement, the organization confirmed when fans will get to see the new team members in action for the first time.

The Grand Rapids Griffins confirmed in a post on X that the full Detroit Red Wings organization will be in Grand Rapids on September 21st for the Annual Red & White Game, showcasing members of the team ahead of the first preseason game, set to go down on the 23rd, in Detroit, against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Here's the announcement:
This will be John Gibson's first outing with the Wings. The team's new number one goalie will be eager to prove himself after some tough years in Anaheim.
Last season, the 32-year-old goalie had 11 wins, a 2.77 goals-against average, and a .912 save percentage in 29 games with the Ducks.
In his 12-year NHL career, he tallied a .910 SV% and a 2.89 GAA in 509 games.
The Wings missed the playoffs by only a few points. If Gibson manages to steal a few wins, the team could avoid a ten-year slump.
There's no doubt that he'll come in ready to compete right off the bat, starting with training camp and the friendly scrimmage.
