The Detroit Red Wings' interest in completing a trade with the Anaheim Ducks for a top-six forward has been confirmed in a new report from RG.org.

This year's offseason has been quite quiet, with much less action on the trade and free agent markets than in prior years.
But that means teams who haven't been able to add what they wanted to could still make moves before the start of training camp.
According to RG's James Murphy, McTavish remains a hot topic behind the scenes, and Detroit is pushing hard.

Red Wings Officially Linked to Mason McTavish

McTavish is a restricted free agent, and multiple reports suggest he could end up being traded this summer, with rumors of massive discrepancies in the contract negotiations between the two camps.
Murphy stated that the Red Wings are among the teams inquiring about him on the market.
In his own words:
"I've heard the Canadiens and Hurricanes have been keeping tabs, but one team I keep hearing that has continued to show strong interest is the Detroit Red Wings. Obviously there's a history there with Pat [Verbeek] and Steve [Yzerman], and I really think Steve sees McTavish as a player that would clearly change the whole dynamic of his team up the middle there."

In spite of the ties between the former teammates and rival GMs Pat Verbeek and Steve Yzerman, the cost to get McTavish won't be cheap.
Per RG:
"Unless you're willing to get creative and knock Pat's socks off with a monster offer, I don't see him getting traded at this point,» a source told RG. «A right-shot, top-four and future top-pairing defenseman would be the starting point from what I know. I don't see the Wings moving Moritz Seider, so you're likely talking Axel Sandin-Pellikka."

Yzerman knows that a player like McTavish would be a game-changer in the Wings' lineup. If he can get him, he must consider his options, although a Moritz Seidertrade appears very unlikely.

If Moritz Seider is the price, would you still want the Wings to go after Mason McTavish?
