Patrick Kane of the Detroit Red Wings surpassed another legend on his latest career milestone during Monday's game against the New Jersey Devils.
American-born legend Patrick Kane has put himself in the record books again in Monday's game against the New Jersey Devils.
With his assist on forward Alex DeBrincat's goal, Kane has overtaken former Red Wings legend Brendan Shanahan for the 29th spot in the NHL's all-time points list with 1,355, with his latest career milestone.
Kane continues his tear this season, wearing a Red Wings uniform, with 860 career assists, and after last night's game, is just 35 shy of passing Phil Housley for the most career assists by an American-born forward.
Detroit Red Wings Legend Patrick Kane: Poised for another 50-point season?
Last season, Patrick Kane scored 59 points (21-38) in 72 games for the Red Wings. And at the moment, he's scored 11 points (3-8) in 13 games.
Not a point-per-game pace, especially after missing a significant amount of time recovering from injury.
But now that he's healthy, he can continue to break records and post new milestones wearing the winged wheel.
Kane has played a total of 1,315 games in the NHL and scored 1,355 points (495-860).
He has an Art Ross Trophy (2016), Hart Trophy (2016), Ted Lindsay Award (2016), Conn Smythe (2013), and a Calder Trophy (2008).
Kane's milestones continue to pile up while he's destined for a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Kane signed a one-year, $3 million AAV (average annual value) deal with the Red Wings in the summer.
