The Detroit Red Wings Acquire Andres St. Laurent From the New York Islanders
The Detroit Red Wings acquired Andres St. Laurent from the Islanders.
St. Laurent was originally drafted 49th overall in the 4th round of the 1973 NHL Draft by the Islanders.
He began his career around the same time the Rebel WHA was starting up and was drafted by the Vancouver Blazers 96th overall in the 8th round of the bourgeoning league.
For the Center, he played a total of 644 NHL games, split between the New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
His career with the Red Wings involved three stints.
The first time was in 1977-78, when he'd score 70 points (31-39) with 108 penalty minutes in 77 games.
His first go-round with the Red Wings came without any hardware, and he would subsequently be traded to the Los Angeles Kings at the end of the 1977-78 season for Dale McCourt and rights to restricted free agent Rogatien Vachon.
The Detroit Red Wings would get the "Le Tigre" experience for only 174 games and score 110 points (64-46).
No one won this one, it looks like.
