Red Wings forward Patrick Kane gets honest about ex-teammate Jonathan Toews' potential return
Red Wings forward Patrick Kane will always be known as a Blackhawks icon, and he's getting honest about the chances of his former teammate Jonathan Toews returning.
Patrick Kane will forever be known as a Chicago Blackhawks legend, but now he's with the Detroit Red Wings, something that seemed unthinkable earlier in his career when he was helping Chicago overcome Detroit for a modern-day dynasty.
Along with his now-former teammate Jonathan Toews, Kane contributed to a trio of Stanley Cup victories for the Blackhawks, and also scored the Cup-winning goal in dramatic fashion in 2010 over the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Blackhawks are now in the midst of a rebuilding process, and bid goodbye to both Kane and Toews; they traded Kane to the New York Rangers in 2023, while informing Toews that he wouldn't be retained.
And while Toews' NHL career appeared to be over, he's spoken about wanting to make a comeback effort and return to the ice.
What does Kane think about that?
Even this year, I missed five games and came back, and it's like you're kind of easing your way into it, feeling it out. I'm sure that would be a little bit of a time frame for him, if he came back, to feel it out.
Kane then said it would be "great" if Toews was healthy enough to resume his NHL career.
Toews has 883 points (372 G, 511 A) in 1,067 career NHL games.
