Red Wings fowrard Patrick Kane, who collected another assist, pointed toward what exactly went wrong for him and his teammates in their 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay.

It was not the kind of night the Detroit Red Wings were hoping for, as they had been attempting to build off Thursday night's 5-2 win over the divisional foe Florida Panthers.

They have to leave the Sunshine State with a split, beating the Panthers but falling 5-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.

Brayden Point scored early on Tampa Bay's 1st shot, beating Cam Talbot on a rebound off the boards. Tampa then built their lead to 4-0 before Lucas Raymond struck on the red-hot Red Wings power play.

Talbot was given the rest of the night off after allowing five goals on just 16 shots, as Alex Lyon carried the load the rest of the way after he was pulled.

Patrick Kane, who picked up an assist on Raymond's power play goal, pointed toward what went wrong for his teammates in the loss - not converting when they had a pair of early chances when the Lightning were shorthanded.

First couple of power plays would have been nice to get one to get the lead, obviously we feel pretty confident in our power play, but it kind of let us down tonight. We shot a lot of pucks at the net and their goalie made some good saves, and we obviously had some breakdowns defensively that cost us.

They're pretty dynamic 5v5 and when you give them room on the power play, they're able to take advantage of that too. We've seen it for a bunch of years from their top guys and they continue to produce. But yeah, if we got one maybe on our 1st couple power plays, maybe it changes the momentum of the game. Obviously, we had the first two I think, but then they get one and score right away and get another one and score pretty quickly off that, too. Special teams was a factor.

Kane's 2-on-1 rush with Alex DeBrincat early in the 1st period went for naught, as DeBrincat was robbed by goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. DeBrincat then hit the post moments later on a shot that would have tied the game at 1-1 had it been an inch to the left.
