The Detroit Red Wings are included in the top 5 teams of odds that could potentially land Pittsburgh Penguins superstar captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the midst of a painful rebuilding process, not to dissimilar to the one that the Detroit Red Wings are trying to climb out of.
Household names in Pittsburgh like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang are nearly the end of their respective careers, and none of them appear to be looking to depart town to try and chase 1 more Stanley Cup.
But what if Crosby were to try and maximize what time he has left in his NHL career and try for another title before he hangs up the skates for good?
Online betting site BetOnline has listed 5 different NHL teams as potential landing spots for Crosby to go if he were to leave Pittsburgh, and interestingly enough, the Red Wings are listed in 4th place at +750 odds.
In 1st place are the Montreal Canadiens, his boyhood team he cheered for, at +300 odds. Coming in 2nd place is the Colorado Avalanche, who feature his good friend and fellow Nova Scotia native Nathan MacKinnon, at +400 odds. And in 3rd place are the Vegas Golden Knights at +550.
Crosby was a villain in the eyes of Red Wings fans after the 2008 and 2009 Stanley Cup Final, especially the latter that resulted in a painful Game 7 loss for Detroit and the sight of Crosby lifting the Stanley Cup on Joe Louis Arena ice.
There was also a controversy in which Crosby was late to the traditional handshake line, something that rubbed players like Nicklas Lidstrom and Kris Draper the wrong way.
Years have passed since then, and Crosby has won 2 more Stanley Cup titles in 2016 and 2017 and has cemented his place in NHL history as one of the game's greatest players.
It would be a strange sight to see him with another NHL sweater other than Pittsburgh, with whom he's under contract for another 2 years with an AAV (average annual value) of $8.7 million.
Red Wings fans, would you be in favor of bringing Crosby to Detroit if the opportunity presented itself?
