The Star Spangled Banner has been booed by handfuls of Canadian fans before several recent games, and American future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane is responding.
The
Detroit Red Wings, who have now won 6-straight games, have been involved in an uncomfortable situation before their last pair of games in Calgary and Vancouver.
As a response to the implementation of tariffs on Canadian goods, several Canadian fans responded by booing during the singing of The Star Spangled Banner before games.
The controversial booing took place before the Red Wings faced the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, while the booing also happened in Ottawa before the Senators hosted the Minnesota Wild, along in Toronto before an NBA matchup involving the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Clippers.
It's too bad. It is what it is. I guess you can maybe understand it from this side, but it seems like it's a thing that's going around the league right now.
Additionally, Red Wings forward and Michigan native
Alex DeBrincat has responded.
I didn't really know what was going on. I think I figured it out towards the end.
Earlier today, it appeared as though progress had been made between both countries. US President Donald Trump announced a one month delay in the tariffs on Canadian goods, while Canadian PM Justin Trudeau announced a major investment to strengthen border security and crack down on drug trafficking.
Will it lead to a reduction in the booing of the American anthem by some Canadian fans?
