Former Detroit Red Wings prospect Cooper Moore is now with the New York Rangers after having been previously taken by Detroit in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
A former prospect with the Detroit Red Wings has found a new home, and happens to be with a 2nd Original 6 club.
Cooper Moore, who the Red Wings took with the 128th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, has signed a 1-year deal with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers.
He played in 37 games with Quinnipiac University this year, tying for 2nd overall on the team in scoring by a defenseman with 14 points (1G, 13A).
Before that, he played several years for the University of North Dakota while also spending a year in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs.
His best year with North Dakota came in 2022-23 when he had 13 points (3G, 10A) in 31 games played.
During his time looking for where he'd play collegiate hockey, Moore said he was
drawn to North Dakotathanks to the coaching staff.
I just loved the coaches. Talking to Brad Berry and Dane Jackson, I really believed in what they were telling me and I think they believed in me, too. Going out there on a visit and seeing The Ralph and the facilities there, that just sweetens the deal. On top of that, I got to meet some of the guys on the team and they seemed like great guys.
Moore never saw action with the Red Wings or any of their minor-league affiliates, and is now looking toward his next challenge with the Hartford Wolf Pack with an eye on eventually suiting up in the NHL with the Rangers.
