Frustration boiled over for the Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan after a disappointing 6-3 loss against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.

The Nashville Predators were in Detroit last night to face the Red Wings.
As the last team in the NHL standings, it should've been a cake walk for McLellan's group, despite their projected lineup not being finalized until warmups.
However, the Wings fell in the trap once again, allowing five goals in the third period to lose 6-3 in front of their fans.

Todd McLellan Shows Frustration After 6-3 Loss To The Worst Team In The NHL

Todd McLellan has a reputation of taking players accountable for their mistakes. Following the loss against the Predators, he had harsh comments about his team:
"I didn't like our game most of the night. I thought we were quite casual early in the game. Our passing was horrendous. There was nothing crisp about our game... Then when the third period starts, we gave up four in every different fashion that you could think of."

"In the third period, we gave up goals in every way possible - 4-on-4, face-off coverage, off a rush and off a d-zone breakdown. There's really no other element to the game where you can get beat. A penalty shot, maybe."

"Until this team figures out that they have to value checking and defensive play, I'll keep telling you the same things. Lo and behold, here I am again. So back to the drawing board again."

Lucas Raymond also spoke about his team's poor game management and the lack of urgency in their game:
"We put Talbs in bad spots. He played another good game for us tonight and put us in a spot to win the game. For us, we have to have a better sense of urgency. We have to have better game management coming into the third. We didn't have that tonight."

"We went into the third period at home with a chance to win, and we have to be better than that. We have to have a better sense of urgency."

Both Raymond and Moritz Seider also highlighted the lack of focus in the third period, which led to two goals in less than a minute, to which McLellan had no answer:
"I have no idea why our group would feel or think that way. I have no idea."

The Wings went from the 2nd to the 5th rank with that loss, and will be back on the ice tomorrow to face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
