Trade rumours are starting to circle around the potential of general manager Steve Yzerman acquiring John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks.

After a disappointing end to the Red Wings season, it was evident that the team was missing strong performances from all directions of the ice, specifically in net. Alex Lyon had glimpses of brilliance between the pipes, but when analyzing Ville Husso's game, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs to get his game going.
"If Steve Yzerman and Pat Verbeek get together and swing a deal to send John Gibson to the Red Wings, then Husso would have to be part of the trade package. For one, Detroit can't afford both Gibson and Husso. In addition, the Ducks would need someone to split time with Lukas Dostal. Husso would be a stopgap solution there with his contract expiring in 2025. That's the only type of scenario where I see Husso leaving Detroit. As for other situations like a buyout or trading him in anticipation of another move, I don't see those happening."
Could we see Ville Husso go to the Ducks as part of a trade package for John Gibson? Gibson is a proven veteran with all-star capabilities. A young goaltender like Alex Lyon could benefit from his guidance and mentorship.
