Cossa, a former 1st-round pick by the Detroit Red Wings, has carved out a spot for himself in the AHL, with a 21-15-5 record and a .911 save percentage.
The Red Wings could utilize the trade to improve their blueline with the addition of Brett Kulak, Mattias Ekholm, with Cam Talbot in play also.
Ekholm would provide the stability needed on the blueline in Detroit, while Kulak seems a less reliable and meaningful option despite Ekholm's rental status.
