The Red Wings announce a 1000-game NHL veteran will join them: A perfect reinforcement
The Detroit Red Wings organization announced that a 1,000-game NHL veteran will join the lineup for Monday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It is crucial for the Detroit Red Wings to start the season on a high note. With six of the first eight games being against division rival teams, all games matter for the standings.
Missing out on the playoffs by only a few points once again would be very disappointing.
The Leafs and the Wings are set to meet again on the ice tomorrow afternoon, and both teams will be hungry to add another mark in the win column.
Today, the Red Wings announced that they will get reinforcement that should help them gain momentum.
James van Riemsdyk Should Make Wings Debut Monday Against Leafs
The coach also revealed that Cam Talbot will get the start.
The Leafs were widely disappointed after losing Saturday's game against the Red Wings.
Craig Berube didn't mince his words when he talked about his team's performance:
"We spent too much time in our zone. They eventually capitalized. We tired ourselves out because we three-quarter-iced ourselves in the second period. That cost us the hockey game.
You know, we had the puck twice, before two (Detroit) goals, on our tape, and guys were just standing watching the guy instead of working to get out of our zone. That's really the game, for me.
We beat ourselves, in my opinion."
The Leafs will come out strong to bounce back against the Wings on Monday afternoon. If van Riemsdyk can have an impact in the game, it would certainly help Detroit gain momentum.
