Today, deals involving money in the NHL usually take the form of salary retention.
But back in 1952, teams often bought players in trades. That's what happened on August 14th, when the Chicago Blackhawks acquired Fred Glover and Enio Sclisizzi from the Red Wings for cash. The amount was never made public.
Fred Glover, born in 1928, played 92 NHL games, including 61 with the Wings, and spent most of his career in the AHL, where he won five Calder Cups. He later pursued a coaching career that eventually led him behind the bench of the Oakland Seals, California Golden Seals, and the Los Angeles Kings.
Glover notably tallied 2,543 PIMs in the AHL during his career.
As for Enio Sclisizzi, he didn't stay long in the NHL either, appearing in 67 games for the Wings out of a total of 81. Like Glover, he had his best years in the AHL, winning two Calder Cups over 13 seasons in the American League.
