Recent intel has unveiled that a trade is set to erupt between the New Jersey Devils and the Detroit Red Wings after Steve Yzerman made a call inquiring about defenseman Dougie Hamilton.
The New Jersey Devils have been claimed to be considering departing with two of their expensive players this offseason in order to alleviate their cap space.
This alleviation of cap space would be used to re-sign the Devils' Luke Hughes, per analyst Luke Fox of Sportsnet.
The New Jersey Devils' general manager has revealed that a contract extension for defenseman Luke Hughes is a major priority for the organization, and now that the calendar has turned to August, this franchise is in dire need to make ends meet.

New Jersey Devils considering trading Dougie Hamilton, Ondrej Palat to open Luke Hughes money
Per Luke Fox, the Devils are considering a trade of either Dougie Hamilton or Ondrej Palat to shed salary cap space to accommodate a contract for Hughes.
«Jersey only has roughly $7 million in cap space, which is why veteran names like Ondrej Palat and Hamilton have surfaced in trade speculation.»
With this being said, the Detroit Red Wings have been considered to be a potential landing spot for Hamilton for over a month, and now, the likelihood of a trade erupting between these two organizations is extremely high.
