Vancouver Canucks would acquire top Detroit Red Wings prospect in exchange for Quinn Hughes

Just last week, a massive development linked the Detroit Red Wings to acquiring Vancouver Canucks captain, Quinn Hughes.

This is mostly due to the fact that Quinn Hughes only has two years remaining on his six-year, $47.1 million deal, where he can sign an extension in July 2026, and over the summer, extension talks have been highly debated amongst fans.

With speculations and rumors suggesting this skilled blueliner will be departing from the Vancouver Canucks, and recent reports from Detroit Hockey Now have suggested that if the Canucks find themselves in sell mode by the 2026 trade deadline, the Red Wings could be a prime destination.

With that said, a recent report by analyst, Bob Duff, just unveiled who he believes the Red Wings would be willing to trade in exchange for Hughes.

Detroit Hockey Now's Bob Duff speculations that Detroit would be willing to consider parting with their elite defensive prospect, Axel-Sandin Pellikka, in order to land the Canucks captain.

For the Red Wings, acquiring this blueliner would fix one of the club's biggest recent draft downfalls.

Back in 2018, Detroit missed the opportunity to Hughes at sixth overall, instead, they acquired Filip Zadina, who is now playing in Europe following an extremely underwhelming NHL run.

And during that time, Hughes has piled up an outstanding 409 points in a total of 433 games, where he's now emerged as one of the National Hockey League's best blueliners.
