Analyst drops worrisome paragraph on the Detroit Red Wings playoff hopes
Detroit Red Wings season goes from bad to worse since the 4 Nations Face-Off break ended in February, their playoff hopes have quickly gone down the drain and an analyst has addressed worrisome news.
The Red Wings and their fan base are witnesses repeats from prior seasons of poor effort on the ice, which may ultimately lead to another elimination from playoff contention.
Things have gone downhill since their return from the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off break, and you won't believe how bad the statistics are.
Red Wings analyst, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, offered worrisome insight into Steve Yzerman's groups recent performance.
«Not enough describes the Wings: Not enough skill, not enough grit, not enough to succeed in the grueling time of year that is the NHL's stretch run. Since the league emerged from the Four Nations break on Feb. 22, the Wings have gone 5-10-1. They haven't won consecutive games since Feb. 23-25. At 72 points and with 11 games left, they can max out at 94 points - and that's with winning out the season, which isn't going to happen.»
Mathematically, the Red Wings would need to win their remaining games (11) to have a fair shot at an NHL Wildcard spot.
On Tuesday, the Red Wings endured their 10th loss in 13 games.
Steve Yzerman on the hot seat in Detroit
Many believe that the Red Wings have never had a fair shot at playoff contention this year, with the lineup they were granted on the ice, leading many to question that is Steve Yzerman fit for this GM job?.
After a failed trade deadline by Yzerman, many are now calling for him to be fired.
Fans have even begun protesting on each of the Red Wings' posts on X (formerly Twitter).
