The Detroit Red Wings have re-assigned goaltender Sebastian Cossa to the American Hockey League after bringing him up briefly under emergency conditions.
For fans of the Detroit Red Wings who were hoping to see young prospect goaltender Sebastian Cossa get more NHL action, you'll be waiting longer.
Mrazek was injured in Monday night's game against the Utah Hockey Club just minutes into the contest after he was run into by forward Dylan Guenther; he immediately left and was soon ruled out for the night.
He was replaced by Alex Lyon, who was forced to start again last night against the Colorado Avalanche in place of Cam Talbot, who tweaked something earlier in the day.
Cossa's demotion likely means that one or both of Mrazek and Talbot will be ready to play in tomorrow's game against the Ottawa Senators at Little Caesars Arena, which has turned into an ultra-important matchup for Detroit in terms of the standings.
Cossa returns to the Griffins still looking for his 1st full 60 minutes of NHL action. He did pick up his 1st NHL win earlier this year in relief of now-ex Red Wings goalie Ville Husso in a December 9 shootout win over the divisional foe Buffalo Sabres.
