Czech Goalie Proud of His Hard Work Paying Off with a Two-year ELC with the Red Wings

Michal Postava was speculated to be on the Red Wings' radar this offseason as a goalie they were targeting. As one of multiple teams GM Steve Yzerman was able to lure him here to Hockeytown and sign him to a two-year ELC in the NHL.

Now, he'll work to be the best goalie he can in the NHL to honor his late father, as he issued an emotional statement regarding signing his first contract in the best hockey league in the world.

Postava was an elite goalie in the postseason for HC Kometa Brno, ending the year with a record of 10-7-0, 1.97 GAA, and a .940 save percentage.

The kind of elite play that GMs in the NHL look for.

His playoff save percentage put him among the best of the best of netminders in the Czech Extraliga.

For him, this was all the building blocks of a career year that saw him earn his first deal with the Red Wings and posthumously honor his father as one of the best goalies in the Czech professional league.

It's difficult to tell where he'll go from here, but he can continue to rise in the ranks if he keeps the consistency going while wearing a Grand Rapids Griffins uniform in the AHL.

Though he'll have some good competition from Sebastian Cossa.

Postava will help fortify a prospect pipeline that isn't so deep in the AHL.
