Goalie Alex Lyon pulls no punches after frustrating 4-1 loss to Stars

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon returned to the net for the 1st time as starter since January 7, but it wasn't a game he'll want to remember against the Stars last night at American Airlines Center.
The Detroit Red Wings gave goaltender Alex Lyon the start for last night's game against the Dallas Stars, but it's not a game that he'll be looking back upon fondly.
Awful defensive play by his teammates in the 1st period allowed the Stars to grab a quick 3-0 lead, including a particularly careless turnover from Alex DeBrincat that set up Dallas' 1st goal.
Lyon would later explain that his team's prospects of winning were lowered when they essentially allowed the Stars to grab the early lead.
It's difficult when you spot them a few. Honestly, I think we have the right mindset though, where we come out in the second and we just try to wipe away the first and keep going. The third, just try to get better as well. We just got to keep that moment-by-moment mentality and continue to try to improve.
Much of last night's game reminded fans of how the Red Wings were playing in the days leading up to now-former head coach Derek Lalonde's dismissal - sloppy defensive play and the opposition racing out to big leads.
Lyon said that the Red Wings have no choice but to try and prevent frustration from creeping back into the dressing room, hit the reset button and make sure they get a better result next time.
It's hard. On a road trip, you're playing good teams every night so you just can't take anything for granted. We got another team that plays extremely hard here in two days, so we got to hit reset quick, move on and just grind.
The Red Wings play the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow night to close out their 4-game road trip that initially began with a 5-2 win over the divisional foe Florida Panthers.
