An intriguing trade proposal for the Detroit Red Wings and the Florida Panthers for forward Evan Rodrigues has emerged, and Nate Danielson is one piece attached.

The Detroit Red Wings need players who could put them into "win-now" territory.
One player who could make a difference would be Florida Panthers' Evan Rodrigues, who has found a new home in Sunrise, FLA.
He's won two Stanley Cups there already, and during the team's last playoff run scored 15 points (2-13) in 21 playoff games for the Panthers.

The Cost To Acquire Evan Rodrigues

The Red Wings could use him in the top-nine, and Heavy.com floated a proposal that included a swap of assets for the Panthers forward.
With little to no cap space after re-signing Aaron Ekblad, Brad Marchand and others, keeping Rodrigues does not appear promising.
Red Wings Acquire:

Evan Rodrigues ($3 million)
Panthers Acquire:

Nate Danielson
Trey Augustine
2nd round pick in 2026

The Red Wings could get an affordable forward who could provide reliable production, albeit in more of a third-line role with the team.
Rodrigues knows what it takes to win in the NHL and could be a mentor to younger players who are being promoted to the Red Wings lineup.
While the Red Wings would have to sacrifice Nate Danielson, the 9th overall selection in 2023, who scored 39 points in 71 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The team's prospect pool is deep enough that they could consider moving pieces at this point to put them where they need to be.
In addition, they could send a 2nd-round pick in 2026 to restock the Panthers' draft capital, in addition to Trey Augustine, who could be a future starting goalie for the team.
With all of the moves made by Yzerman in the summer, with Michal Postava being the latest goalie acquired, the competition in the net should be fierce.
Augustine could find more playing time in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers and join a Stanley Cup-winning franchise.
Ultimately, for the Red Wings, the team will have a reliable forward in Rodrigues at the cost of $3 million AAV. It'd be a smart move for Yzerman, considering productive wingers come at a higher-cost typically.
