Detroit Red Wings' top UFA target considering surprising career choice that would end NHL tenure

It appears that the Toronto Maple Leafs have some competition in the pursuit of UFA Jack Roslovic, as Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings are linked to the former 1st-round pick.
Despite his successful season in Carolina, Jack Roslovic wasn't brought back to the Canes by GM Eric Tulsky.
After scoring 39 points (22-17), you'd think he'd be a viable top-nine option for the team; instead, he's working to find other opportunities elsewhere.
His most recent suitors are two Original Six teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. However, there hasn't been a pen-to-paper since the former 22-goal scorer has drawn interest elsewhere.
The forward recently finished a $2.8 million deal with the Hurricanes and should find himself on another NHL team.
Jack Roslovic considering move to KHL
There are complications, as the former Columbus-born forward considers his options, whether he signs with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, or makes a jump to the KHL.
According to Dylan Griffing of Elite Prospects, the free agent forward has multiple KHL teams in hot pursuit.
Multiple KHL clubs have made bids on UFA Jack Roslovic.
Which might explain his pause when it comes to signing a new deal here in North America, where he could continue his career as a depth forward.
He could easily find himself a spot on the Red Wings' third line, which needs more secondary scoring, which Roslovic could provide.
Or he could head to Russia, hone his game in the KHL, and get paid a nice contract without the high expectations that come with wearing a Red Wings or Maple Leafs jersey.
However, for the Red Wings, he'd need to replicate or come close to his 22-goal production for the signing to be worth it, as the team is positioning itself for a run to the playoffs in 2025-26.
