Detroit Red Wings announce a logo change in hopes to snap their nine year playoff drought
As the Detroit Red Wings aim to end their nine-year playoff drought, the organization announced a massive change sure to rally the fans.
The 2025-26 season in Detroit will be exciting for many reasons. Not only will the franchise celebrate its
Centennial season, but after yet another disappointing season that saw the Red Wings miss the playoffs by only a few points in the standings, the team will look to bounce back to avoid a decade-long playoff drought.
The new number one goalie will look to capitalize on his opportunity to prove himself after a tough stint in Anaheim.
In a new development, the team announced another reason why fans should be excited for the next season.
Red Wings Make Massive Announcement Concerning 2025-26 Season's Center Ice Logo: Hockeytown's back
The team sent an official press release:
"The center ice fan vote, launched in partnership with Meijer, was a great way to get fans involved in Red Wings Centennial right from the start,» said Asia Gholston, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing for Ilitch Sports + Entertainment. «Through an incredible response to this vote, fans have made it clear they're fired up for what's to come in celebrating 100 years of Hockeytown, which is only possible due to their unwavering support for the Winged Wheel."
That logo brings back a lot of memories for fans, who will hope to see the team have a year worthy of the old glory days in Detroit.
The organization will also celebrate its rich history in many special themed nights before games, not only to bring fans closer and give them great memories, but also to inspire players.
Playing for the Wings is an honor. The team is one of the greatest franchises in the sport. Fans deserve to see such a driven team, who won't stop until they reach their goal of bringing the Cup back to Detroit.
Ultimately, the logo doesn't directly affect the players' performances, but what it represents should be enough to inspire them.
