Following the injury to Petr Mrazek, it looks as though prospect goaltender Sebastian Cossa will be joining the team from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
While the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Utah Hockey Club in last night's game in what was their 1st ever visit to Delta Center in Salt Lake City,
one major loss they suffered was the injury to goaltender Petr Mrazek.
He was hurt not even 2 minutes into the contest after being run into by Utah forward
Dylan Guenther; he immediately departed and was soon ruled out for the rest of the night, while
Alex Lyon took over in the crease.
Ahead of today's game against the Colorado Avalanche (9:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket), it looks as though the Red Wings have tapped into the American Hockey League.
Per reports, goaltender Sebastian Cossa has joined the club - though it remains unclear if he will be getting any game action in.
The Red Wings re-called Cossa in December, and he would pick up his 1st NHL victory over the Buffalo Sabres on December 9 in a shootout; he replaced now-ex Red Wings goalie
Ville Husso after his abysmal performance in the 1st period.
Cossa, who was taken with the 15th overall pick by the Red Wings in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, is 19-11-5 this year with Grand Rapids; he has a 2.38 GAA and a .913 SV% with a lone shutout.
Meanwhile, Red Wings coach Todd McLellan has confirmed that Mrazek will not play for the rest of the road trip and is going to be re-evaluated when the team returns to Detroit.
