According to Ryan O'Hara of Octopus Thrower, Detroit Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin set a bad example for his team by calling out GM Steve Yzerman.

The Detroit Red Wings end of season press conference was controversial depending on how you took Dylan Larkin's comments in regards to Steve Yzerman's performance as GM this season.
Yzerman backloaded the team with veterans who were out of their prime, adding Vladimir Tarasenko, Erik Gustafsson, and Justin Holl, to name a few.
The job Yzerman did wasn't good enough. Even with Todd McLellan turning things around, they were only good enough for a 6th-place finish in a highly competitive Atlantic Division.
His comments didn't gain any favor with Ryan O'Hara of Octopus Thrower, who thought he set a bad example for his teammates.
O'Hara would utilize Gabriel Landeskog's recent return to the NHL and a two-point performance as an example for the Avalanche to rally around.
A true comeback story. Landeskog is someone who brings people together in the locker room. The Avalanche team has stuck with each other through thick and thin, as we've seen in the 2022 season and now against the Dallas Stars.
Whereas, Larkin's been Captain for five years, and seems unhappy in Hockeytown.
Which might be true. His press conference could set a precedent for younger players who look up to him as an example, a role model in the NHL.
'Hey, it's totally okay to all out my coaches and possibly embarrass them in public.' That sets a poor precedent.

Although this critique isn't wrong, however, when it comes to the NHL, the players have unions, and it leverages the playing field.
Larkin might not have been too smart to call out his boss, but he has the luxury of not only doling out the heat but handling the consequences.
It's not advisable to tell your boss they suck to their face in any setting, that's what meetings are for and to filter ideas through conventional means.
But we have no idea how truly frustrated Larkin must be, considering the kind of lineups he's had to deal with during his tenure in Detroit.
It's been nine years since the Red Wings have seen the playoffs, and Larkin isn't the only one to blame alone.
Larkin performed well, scoring 70 points (30 goals, 40 assists) in a full 82-game season.
Bashing GM Steve Yzerman might be popular because, like another original-six GM in Boston, they've done terrible work building teams lately.
