Detroit Red Wings Complete 2-Player Move For Last Trade Deadline Day Transaction
Detroit Red Wings send two players down to AHL for Steve Yzerman's last official move of the NHL trade deadline day
The Detroit Red Wings had a somewhat quiet NHL trade deadline day, but they improved in two major areas.
General manager Steve Yzerman made a bold claim, stating that he needs to get more out of his roster just one day before the trade deadline day, which lowered expectations.
In their first move of the day, the Red Wings acquired a 968-Game Veteran in Trade Deadline Move With Blackhawks.
Their second move, comes with the send down of two young players, but it's not what you think.
Red Wings send two players to Grand Rapids
Steve Yzerman had to pull a few under the radar move to ensure his young players could still be eligible to play in the AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs.
In a two-player move, the Red Wings sent Elmer Soderblom and Dominik Shine to the AHL.
A strictly paper transaction, and a smart one from GM Yzerman, the Red Wings never actually sent them down.
"UPDATE: Elmer Soderblom has now been added to the AHL Transactions list and is now eligible to be sent back to Grand Rapids this season"
