Detroit Red Wings Forced to Make Emergency Roster Move After Injury to Petr Mrazek
In the midst of the Red Wings pushing for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, an emergency roster move has been made after an injury to goaltender Petr Mrazek against the Utah Hockey Club on Monday, and now Sebastien Cossa will be joining the team on their road trip from the Grand Rapids Griffins
The Detroit Red Wings ultimately took a loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Monday in Salt Lake City at the Delta Center, despite a
5-1 win, goaltender Petr Mrazek was injured
after a collision.
Alex Lyon was forced to take over in goal not even 2 minutes into the game, after this collision of Mrazek and Utah Hockey Club's
Dylan Guenther:
Due to the circumstances involving Mrazek's injury, it appears it's long term as the Red Wings recalled goaltender
Sebastian Cossa.
Cossa joins Red Wings on road trip in Colorado
On emergency basis, Cossa has flew to meet the team on their road trip in Colorado, ahead of tonight's game against the Avalanche at 9:00 p.m.
The 22-year old former first round, 15th overall pick, made his NHL debut in December and picked up his first win in the league before being sent back down to the
Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League (AHL).
It seems as though the worst is confirmed for Steve Yzerman's trade deadline acquisition, Petr Mrazek.
The aging veteran netminder has a poor injury history in the NHL, making this his 15th since 2019.
Cossa is expected to be the third string, in case of injury to one of Cam Talbot or Alex Lyon, in the meantime.
