Detroit Red Wings forward's NHL hopes and career reach a new all-time low
Carson Bantle, a Detroit Red Wings prospect who has seen time in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, will now have to work his way back up from the ECHL and the Toledo Walleye.
Detroit Red Wings prospect Carson Bantle was playing in the AHL with the
Grand Rapids Griffins, only a tier below the NHL.
However, with the team's recent shuffling, Bantle will have to work his way back up the ladder as he will now join the Red Wings' ECHL affiliate, the Toledo Walleye.
Bantle didn't have a great showing in the AHL during his 23-game stint with the Griffins, with a showing of only one goal, 23 PIMs, and a -3.
He made his AHL debut on October 26th against the Rockford IceHogs.
Before he arrived in the AHL, he was busy lighting up the ECHL with the Walleye, scoring a total of 29 points (21 goals, 8 assists). He'd be tied at second on the Walleye's roster for 9 power-play goals in Toledo.
However, it appears his NHL dreams will have to be postponed after his diligent efforts in the AHL haven't paid off.
Like many prospects, they don't have the means of making it in professional hockey despite their best efforts.
He was a regular performer at Michigan Tech University and the University of Wisconsin in the NCAA from 2020-2021 (Michigan Tech) and 2021-2024 (University of Wisconsin).
He'd post 52 points (33 goals, 19 assists) in 120 games split between both colleges.
Now, he'll have to dig in with the Walleye and prove to the Red Wings organization he's worth the investment.
Bantle was drafted 142nd overall in the 5th round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.
