Detroit Red Wings kickoff prospect showcase with a bang in 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars

Yesterday in the Comerica Center, the Detroit Red Wings' prospect pipeline had a strong showing against the Dallas Stars. The team would win a definitive victory over the Stars, with a 6-2 finish in the kickoff of the prospect showcase.

The prospects would utilize the three-goal advantage that night to finish off the Stars.

That night in the Comerica Center, the Red Wings prospects prospects would set the tone with Emmitt Finnie scoring a goal, assisted by Shai Buium, in the first 23 seconds of the game. Finnie would capitalize on a pass and would speed down the boards, and scored a backhand goal through the pads of Stars goalie Ben Kraw.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard would account for the secondary assist on Finnie's goal, as last year's (15th overall) pick put himself on the scoresheet that night.

Prospect Amadeus Lombardi would tally the Red Wings' 2nd-goal that night, 55 seconds into the game. Lombardi's two-way style of play would pay off. He intercepted a pass in the offensive zone. The fourth-round pick would skate from the right circle, into the slot, utilizing the left circle, and he'd score a goal with a quick back shot.

That was 2-0.

Red Wings prospect Alexandre Doucet would capitalize on a juicy rebound and put the Wings up 3-0, with Lombardi and Carson Bantle being credited with the assists.

Shai Buium would be the next prospect to notch a goal that night, as he put a shot in the right corner of the net, leaving Ben Kraw in the dust. The goal happened at 10:33, with free agent invite Liam Kilfoil, and Ondrej Becher, a 3rd-round pick (80th overall), credited with the assists.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard was next on the list to score that night, putting the Red Wings up 5-0, after a pass from Alexandre Doucet on the power-play.

The sixth goal of the night was a convergence of multiple 1st-round picks in the Detroit Red Wings system, with Axel Sandin-Pellikka depositing another power-play goal 2:27 later, with assists from Nate Danielson (9th overall in 2023) and Brandsegg-Nygard (15th overall in 2024).

The Red Wings prospects have a bright future in Hockeytown if this is the kind of execution of play we'll see every night. But we should expect them to keep developing into the NHL superstars they'll be in Grand Rapids for now
