Detroit Red Wings' Lucas Raymond Sets Another Staggering Record in the NHL

The Detroit Red Wings' Lucas Raymond has set himself apart from his peers, as he's the first Swedish player under the age of 23 to score 80 points in a season since the Washington Capitals' Nicklas Backstrom did in 2009-2010.
Lucas Raymond has been a bright spot in a Detroit Red Wings lineup that has seen better days. Raymond was selected 4th overall in the 1st-round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Since then, he's been growing into a forward that the team can depend on for offense nightly.
And he's proven his worth this season, scoring a total of 80 points (27 goals, 53 assists) in 81 games for the
Red Wings. Nearly a point-per-game player, and he's the first U23 Swedish-born forward to do that since 2009-2010.
The previous record holder was the Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom.
Raymond has scored a total of five points in his last two games with the Red Wings and has proven to be a key piece in the lineup.
Against the New Jersey Devils, he scored 2 points (2 assists) and played a total of 19:37 TOI that night. His name would be on the score-sheet against the Stars two nights before that, scoring a total of 3 points ( 1 goal, 2 assists) and doing it efficiently with only 14:15 TOI played.
It's only a matter of time before we see Raymond hit his prime, and when we do, that hopefully will coincide with the rebuild coming to an end, and the Red Wings closing the gap on an eventual playoff run.
Until then, we'll just be happy with how great he's playing.
