As the Detroit Red Wings suit up one more time for their last matchup of their NHL 2025 regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs, it appears as though three specific player's will be taking off the red and white jersey for good.

The Red Wings have had an endured one brutal season this year which is nearing an end as they take on the ice one more time today, Thursday, April 17, against the Toronto Maple Leafs, it seems as though we can expect to say goodbye to a few player's for more than just the offseason.
The team is in dire need to continue developing their core and to find more talented players in their prime in order to excel throughout this rebuild, and new insight has revealed who we can expect to depart the Red Wings organization this summer.

One goaltender, one forward, and one defenseman who are expected to leave the organization and why

The Detroit Red Wings currently have three goaltenders in their roster, Alex Lyon, Petr Mrazek, and Cam Talbot, and unfortunately for Lyon, he has seemingly been running out of talent, trailing behind these two key net-minders, which has essentially left him to be the odd man out.
Not only has Lyon under-performed, he is the only goalie who will no longer be under contract for next season, unlike Mrazek and Talbot.
The Red Wings had a lot of hope for Tarasenko when he signed with the organization, however, his rough start of the season has unfortunately snowballed into an entire year of disappointment, so much that he wasn't even worth going to bat for as the season neared it's end.
Although this does not define Tarasenko's abilities and skill, it seems as though he could just be a bad fit for the Red Wings, leaving him to unfortunately be suggested to depart as well.
The Detroit Red Wings' General Manager, Steve Yzerman, has been known for his intentions to grow this re-build with young, long-term and strong key-players, and unfortunately for Jeff Petry, at the age of 37 and missing majority of the season due to injuries, his longevity in Detroit doesn't seem to promising.
Despite the uncertainty of whether or not all three of these Red Wings will make it through the summer, we can definitely expect a busy offseason for Steve's 'Yzerplan'.
