The Red Wings already have several goaltenders at their disposal within the organization, and now another new face wearing the pads could be added soon.
The Detroit Red Wings already have several faces in goal, including Cam Talbot and
Petr Mrazek along with prospects
Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine; right now, the future of pending UFA
Alex Lyon is yet to be decided.
Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman is reportedly trying to add another face to the rotation, Swedish net minder Arvid Holm.
However, Holm himself is downplaying these reports by saying that he still has 2 years left on his deal with Rögle BK of the SHL.
It is expected that Detroit will sign 6'5, free agent netminder, Arvid Holm at the conclusion of the season
The 26-year-old won the Honken Trophy as the SHL's top netminder by posting a 0.925 SV% across 35 games for Rögle BK
He was originally drafted by Winnipeg in the 6th round in 2017.
He was originally taken with the 167th pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets but played specifically with their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose.
He signed a 3-year contract with Rögle in May 2024, where he's played since then. This year, he went 17-17-0 with an impressive 1.90 GAA and .924 SV%.
At 6'5, Holm is a physically imposing presence in the net; should he ultimately sign with the Red Wings, he could be another future competing for a roster spot along with Cossa at Training Camp in the fall.
