Detroit Red Wings sign 900 game NHL veteran defenseman to one-year contract
General manager Steve Yzerman wasn't joking when he revealed that he wasn't done adding depth to Detroit's lineup this summer, as the organization has announced the signing of 900-game veteran defenseman Travis Hamonic.
With a busy summer for majority of contending teams in NHL free agency, the Detroit Red Wings remained flat footed, completing very little moves.
Detroit Red Wings sign Travis Hamonic to one-year deal
UPDATE: The #RedWings have signed defenseman Travis Hamonic to a one-year contract with an AAV of $1,000,000.
The signing of Hamonic, a right-shot defenseman, is expected to fill the remaining slot on the third defensive pair alongside
Erik Gustafsson.
It may not be a blockbuster signing by Yzerman, but the Red Wings appear much more well rounded and now sizeable on defenseman.
Hamonic stands at 6'0» and 200lbs while playing a two-way dominant defensive game, an area that the Red Wings lacked during 5 on 5 play this past season.
