Detroit Red Wings' Swedes buckle up for highly anticipated matchup vs.Team Canada Tuesday
A Detroit Red Wings player currently representing Sweden at the World Championships opened up ahead of a highly anticipated matchup against Canada on Tuesday.
Team Sweden will face its toughest challenge of the tournament yet, as they're set to face
Sidney Crosby,
Nathan MacKinnon, and Team Canada on Tuesday afternoon.
The stakes are high for both teams. With a win in regulation time, Canada would take first place from the Swedes just before the start of the elimination rounds. If any other result occurs, Sweden will end in first place.
In an interview ahead of the game, Red Wings forward Raymond shared insights on the challenge in front of him:
"It's good. It's about being crisp out there and doing the simple things well. And it's about hard passes on the blade and good skating.
After that, it was a good practice, so we just have to go (Tuesday)."
"It's going to be really fun. I've met him a lot over there. We're also training together now. William is a really good hockey player, so it's going to be fun.
He has a great all-round game, speed, and game sense. He works all over the ice and has that X-factor. It's going to be a lot of fun."
Raymond has scored seven points in six games so far in the tournament, and Karlsson will play his first game today, a few days after being eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers.
This will be the most exciting game of the tournament so far, especially with first place at stake.
With Sweden and Canada possibly facing each other later in the tournament, this game will be very interesting to watch. Stay tuned for all the developments.
