The Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks combined for a trade today in history, and there is one clear winner.

A historic swap took place sixty-nine years ago today on August 1, 1956.
The Red Wings brought back a former fan-favorite face in Tony "Mighty Mouse" Leswick from the Blackhawks in exchange for cold hard cash.
Yes, cash, which is compared to today's 'future considerations' in the NHL.
Leswick was quite small, standing at 5'7" and 160 pounds, but was a relentless forechecker and did show plenty of grit in clutch moments.
His time with the Detroit Red Wings spanned between 1951-55, and was legendary.
He helped the Red Wings raise the Lord Stanley in 1952, 1954, and 1955, most notably scoring the overtime winner in Game 7 of the 1954 Final against Montreal.
In 280 games with Detroit, he tallied 65 goals and 76 assists, earning six All-Star appearances. His style frustrated opponents like Maurice Richard and Gordie Howe.
Traded to Chicago in 1955, Leswick tallied up some underwhelming numbers.
11 goals and 11 assists in 59 games during the 1955-56 season, but his presence was certainly felt off the scoresheet.
The Red Wings, who were fresh off of a dynasty past few years, wanted to spark things back up by acquiring Leswick.
Chicago was in the midst of a rebuild and was cash-strapped at the time, taking the financial relief.

Who won this historic trade between the Blackhawks and Red Wings

The Blackhawks appear to be winners, coming out with more cash to support their rebuilding efforts. A low-impact stint in Detroit didn't make much of an impact on the Red Wings team, who was already stacked at the time.
