That's a franchise-tying record for the Detroit Red Wings with their victory tonight over the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena under GM Steve Yzerman!
Make it an even 6-straight victories for the
Detroit Red Wings, who have completely turned their year around when it seemed destined to finish in the bottom of the Eastern Conference under now-former head coach Derek Lalonde.
The Red Wings built up a 4-1 lead over the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena tonight and held on for a 5-3 win, and in doing so they tied a franchise record under general manager Steve Yzerman.
Their 6th-straight win tied their mark from last year for the most consecutive wins since the beloved former captain returned to Hockeytown in April of 2019 to take over the role of general manager from the maligned Ken Holland.
And while progress has been slower than many would have liked, the Red Wings can now say that they're taking real strides under new head coach Todd McLellan.
The hiring of Todd McLellan has made a major difference for the Detroit Red Wings
McLellan was hired by Yzerman on December 26 and signed to a muti-year contract, while Derek Lalonde and assistant Bob Boughner were relieved of their duties.
Since then, the Red Wings have played a far more upbeat and entertaining brand of hockey while also increasing their intensity and defensive awareness.
