The Detroit Red Wings suffered another disappointing loss on the road to the Vegas Golden Knights, as Captain Dylan Larkin called out the team in the media scrum.
Captain Dylan Larkin rightly called out the Red Wings after a disappointing shutout loss
on the road to the Vegas Golden Knights.
A team that is led by Bruce Cassidy is set to be ferocious on both ends of the puck, and for the Red Wings, they couldn't find a way to make it work.
Dylan Larkin would call out his teammates for their failure to execute against a team that won the Stanley Cup in 2023, and still plays as tight as ever under Cassidy.
The team played well but couldn't execute:
«We showed we can play on the road and in this building especially, I thought that was a winnable game," he said. "We just didn't get the offense, the bounces or the puck going into the net that we needed."
The Detroit Red Wings failed to stop the Vegas Golden Knights
While the team did all they could to stop the Golden Knights, their walls would be breached, and the team would
lose 1-0.
Goaltender
John Gibson would face 34 shots and would only give up one in a herculean effort against the Western Conference team.
"Gibby played unbelievable, which is a positive sign," he said. "The PK was good again, but it's a good learning lesson. We got to execute better and when we get our chances, we got to bury down.»
He'd finish the night with a .971 save percentage, and this would be the first time the
the team was shutout since Todd McLellan's arrival in 2024.
The team played well and put up a valiant effort against the Golden Knights, but in order for them to be considered a playoff team, they need to bury their chances.
They only had 24 shots on goal all night against
Akira Schmid and helped turn him into a Vezina Trophy candidate.
Honestly, he's right, they need to do better.
