Goaltenders arrival to the Detroit Red Wings has officially been addressed
Sebastian Cossa played last season in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins; this year could be different, as NHL Insider Jake Tye states that he'll join the Red Wings in 2025-26.
Sebastian Cossa's name has been swirling throughout the rumor mill this season.
First as a trade chip for Steve Yzerman, and now as a possible backup goaltender for the Red Wings.
It just depends on the scenario that the team will go with this year.
If you remember earlier in the summer, Cossa was linked to the Oilers as a trade piece, and nothing materialized.
As Cossa stays put in Detroit, we could very well see him play in a backup position or third goalie in a rotation with John Gibson and Cam Talbot.
This system was one Derek Lalonde utilized without much success in Detroit last season.
Could Todd McLellan have different results this year?
The Red Wings prospect has proven himself capable of holding his own in the AHL with a record of 21-15-5, 2.45 GAA, and a .911 save percentage.
He has a lot of promise and will have to develop further, so it's difficult to tell whether they'll fast-track his growth or let him learn at his own pace.
