At the IIHF World Championships, the Detroit Red Wings' Marco Kasper and Moritz Seider have found themselves on different sides of the game, for better or worse.

Marco Kasper is currently lighting up the IIHF World Championships this season with his home team, Austria. Kasper's proven to be a clutch player, a trait the Red Wings will hope to use once they become a playoff team again.
While the Red Wings' regular season was spectacular, he's led the way for Austria, scoring an assist in Austria's 6-1 victory over Latvia. While neither team is considered "the best", Latvia defeated Sweden to later win a Bronze Medal.
Kasper has helped lead the Austrians to their first playoff berth since 1994.
Meanwhile, defenseman Moritz Seider is headed for heartbreak after Germany's failure to maintain any kind of defensive consistency this year.
As a result, Denmark eliminated them from the IIHF tournament after they rallied. They'd come from a 1-0 deficit to push Seider and Germany out of the tournament for good. The Danes were on a hot streak, winning their last three games, while Germany gave up four straight.
Seider will have a chance to set the tone, as the two will meet up for a rematch in the last quarterfinal spot in Group B.
The Swedes will face Czechia in the quarterfinals.
While Lucas Raymond has played exciting hockey with Team Sweden, posting eight points in seven games, they'd fall 5-3 to Canada, unsurprisingly.
The Red Wings have some bright spots in the IIHF, but a lot of what their star players are experiencing isn't much different from what we've seen in the NHL this season.
Losses are piling up.
