The future should be bright, as Todd McLellan and GM Steve Yzerman control the ship in Detroit, but will Dylan Larkin return in 2025-2026 to Little Caesar's Arena as a Red Wing?

The Detroit Red Wings postseason has begun, and with both the GM and Captain taking potshots at each other in the media, we expect a busy free agency.
With the internal conflict on display, you'd think the Red Wings organization would find a way to save face, but Yzerman's own hubris has debatably earned him some infamy across the mediasphere in the league.
Now, we have to ponder what kind of future Dylan Larkin has with the Detroit Red Wings, whether or not he'd return for a rebuild that has gone nowhere.
GM Steve Yzerman has taken six years to build a subpar roster, and only now are some of the top prospects trickling in.
With the spat between the two going public, we have to wonder if Yzerman would trade Larkin?
Max Bultman covers The Athletic for the Red Wings and gave us some major insight into what factors go into the likelihood he's staying or going.
According to Bultman, the Detroit Red Wings' 70-point center and Captain is "likely back".
Larkin is the top-play in Detroit, and has worn his "C" with pride during his 9 year stint in Detroit. But his entire nine-year playoff drought has resulted in a clashing of personalities between Yzerman and himself.
While Bultman rates him "likely back" during the 2025-2026 season we have to wonder how patient he will continue to with the ongoing rebuild.
Larkin controls his destiny through a no-trade clause attached to his contract, and could ultimately request a trade in order to maximize his prime in the NHL and compete for a Stanley Cup elsewhere.
While we can surmise, he's "likely back" the tensions between himself and the front-office make it seem like it could be an uncertainty, especially if July goes poorly in our opinion.
