According to NHL Insider Claire Hanna, former Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators defenseman Nick Jensen is going to call it a career after a lower-body injury.

In sad news, it looks like defenseman Nick Jensen will have to consider retiring from the NHL.
In an emotional moment with Ottawa Senators reporter Claire Hanna, he addressed his hip resurfacing surgery. Only now does it seem like a return to the league is in the cards. Though he isn't sure if he'll be able to finish a full 82-game season, let alone next.
"I'm fortunate with how my career ended up at this point. It's been a fun ride, I've had no regrets even if this was my last year. I'm not content but I'm happy with how things turned out for right now. Now it's a day by day assessment, coming to the rink every day and pushing yourself."

"Leading that into the next day, I'm not looking a couple days out, a week out, a month out, or I'm not looking at the end of the year if this is my last year or not. I'm just going ot keep pushing as hard as I can and I'll know when it is my final time here when it comes."

Nick Jensen is a Former Detroit Red Wing and 600-game NHL veteran

Jensen began his career in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2016-17 season.
He would later be acquired by the Washington Capitals on February 22nd, 2019, in trade for Madison Bowey and a second-round draft pick.
There he would spend the majority of his NHL career until the 2024-25 season, where he'd be traded to the Ottawa Senators.
One short season would lead to Jensen requiring a hip-resurfacing surgery, which is a risky repair for some players. For others, like Patrick Kane, he has regained his mobility and his career.
Though for Jensen, the future is uncertain for the 633-game NHL veteran.
In that timeframe, he scored 155 points (22-133) and was originally a 5th-round pick in 2009 by the Detroit Red Wings.
