Major development in Red Wings' prospect pipeline following Trey Augustine's award nomination

Trey Augustine was drafted 41st overall in the 2nd round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings.

All the while, his stat line is stellar across the board.

This season with the Michigan State Spartans he'd played 28 games, with an 18-6-4 record, 2.02 GAA, and a .927 save percentage.

While Augustine is posting incredible numbers, he wasn't the only goalie drafted by the Red Wings in 2023.

The season prior in 2023-2024, Augustine has shown the Red Wings he's an elite goalie posting a record of 23-9-2 in 35 games, with a 2.96 GAA, and a .915 save percentage.

Augustine has a bright future ahead of him in the Red Wings organization.

Talk about an unexpected turn of events for the Red Wings who got a great prospect at an excellent price.

Rudy Guimond was drafted during the 6th round of that same draft class in 2023, and no one likely expected to hear his name again until he hit the ECHL or AHL.

In the CHL this season, he's got an amazing 15-0-0 record, with a whopping .960 save percentage with the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats.
