The playoff climb is within arms reach, and as the intensity tightens, every last Red Wing is in dire need to be in attendance with their A game, and luckily, it was just revealed that Jeff Petry, who has been on injury reserve, is inching closer to his return.

The Detroit Red Wings have been without their 15-year veteran for over 2 months now, since January 2, after he endured a terrible injury in Columbus when the Red Wings took the win against Blue Jackets.
Petry has taken part in practices and pre-game skates following his unfortunate injury however, it was always in a limited capacity.
Despite these previous limitations, everything seemly changed this past Monday morning practice, as the defenseman left fans and reporters to believe he is on the route to make his appearance extremely soon.

Will Jeff Petry make a comeback soon?

The Red Wings' general manager, Todd McLellan, revealed an update on Jeff Petry:
"He skated today and got involved in practice for the first time," Todd McLellan stated after practice. "He's been involved wrestling around in the corners a little bit, but this was his first go at actually being involved in the team. I talked to him after, and he said he felt pretty confident. But is he gonna play in Washington? No, he won't play in Washington. He needs some time. He's been out for a while, and he just needs to get back to being able to be productive at this time of year. The game has ramped up since he's left, so he's gotta get back to where he was before and maybe more."

Although McLellan reveals Petry is not quite recovered and ready to take on the ice, he did in fact confirm that he will travel with the Wings for the coming weekend's road trip to Vegas, Utah and Colorado, which is a great sign suggesting his return to be nearing.
Despite the uncertainty of Petry's expected return, he is seemingly on the rise to make his comeback prior to the playoff push.
