Seider ended up sharing the spotlight with Yann Sommer, the veteran Swiss goalkeeper who now plays for Inter Milan.
Sommer joined the club in 2023 and helped them win the Serie A championship a year later.
He's known for his calm presence in net, sharp reflexes, and leadership with the Swiss national team.
The two athletes met at the team's training facility. Cameras caught them swapping jerseys.
The Wings' 23-year-old defenseman played all 82 games for Detroit last season, recording 8 goals and 38 assists for 46 points. He also led the Red Wings in ice time at 25 minutes per game and set the tone physically with 212 hits.
Events like these give European fans a closer look at NHL players while also putting hockey in front of new audiences. Seider represented the league and the Wings, hopefully attracting new fans to the sport.
With the Olympic Games set to go down in a few months, this was a good way to promote the sport.
