An NHL reporter dropped a massive intel hinting about Chris Kreider possibly becoming a member of the Detroit Red Wings organization.

During his end-of-season media availability, Chris Kreider, who has two more seasons on his $6.5M AAV contract, stated his desire to stay in New York, the city he calls home:
"This is home for me. This is the organization that gave me an opportunity to live out my dream. I've developed so many incredible relationships and grown up and spent so much time in this area. So, obviously, this is where I want to be and this is the group that I want to help in whatever fashion win hockey games."

However, after a disappointing 2024-25 season, multiple reports suggested a mutual understanding between Kreider and the Rangers to put an end to their partnership after 13 years:
Drafted 19th overall by the Rangers in 2009, Kreider spent his whole career with the Rangers, scoring 582 points in 883 regular-season games and 76 points in 123 playoff games.
Like the rest of his team, the last season was tough for the 34-year-old veteran, who only scored 30 points in 68 games this season, the worst production of his career.
Despite these struggles, with a fresh start, Kreider could still help a team. A new report from The Athletic's Max Bultman suggested he'd be a great fit with the Detroit Red Wings:
"Kreider is more realistic (than trading for Chicago Blackhawks' Teuvo Teravainen), as the Rangers should be motivated to move him with a bit of a cap crunch. And I could see the logic in taking a chance on him."

"It would be easier if he only had one year left, rather than two. But there's the potential for some statistical bounce back, and the acquisition cost would certainly be on the cheaper side."

"I don't mind the idea, even though it would come with its share of question marks."

Kreider could bring interesting reinforcements to the Red Wings' top six, and the cost to acquire him is likely to be reasonable.
Do you think Steve Yzerman should make it happen?
