Official signing alert of a former team captain and it's a steal of a deal
The Montreal Canadiens minor-league affiliate, the Laval Rocket, have announced the signing of former Grand Rapids Griffins Captain Josiah Didier, and it's a steal.
The right-shot defenseman served as the Griffins' Captain during his tenure in the organization.
The veteran
has signed a PTO (professional tryout offer) with the Montreal Canadiens, AHL affiliate, and it's a huge steal.
The 6-foot-3 defenseman played 119
games with the Grand Rapids Griffins and served as the Captain in the organization. He scored a total of 16 points (6-10) with the team and has won one Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers.

The Montreal Canadiens' acquisition of the AHL journeyman was essential, as the Laval Rocket are without prospects
David Reinbacher,
William Trudeau, and Joshua Jacobs in the lineup.
He'll be joining Pascal Vincent, as the team has a broken blueline who are missing former 1st-round pick David Reinbacher, who is out on injury.
Ironically, Didier was selected 97th overall in the 4th round of the 2011 NHL by the Montreal Canadiens. He'll be returning to where he began his professional hockey career.
The veteran journeyman has played for the Providence Bruins, Charlotte Checkers, and Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL.
He'll continue his career in Montreal with the Laval Rocket. We're left wondering if they've found their new captain?
