The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost the two-game series to the Detroit Red Wings, and after the 3-2 loss today in Scotiabank Arena, Coach Craig Berube called out specific players of the team.

These losses were Divisional, which could affect the team later down the road when points count in the season.
Head Coach Craig Berube would make it a point during the postgame press conference to call out his players for failing to step up to the challenge against the Red Wings.

While Berube would temper his criticism, noting that the team outshot the Red Wings 40 to 15, controlling the majority of the game.
"It was a good solid 60 minutes in my opinion," said Berube. "I thought we controlled the play, plenty of opportunities to score."

The Maple Leafs head coach would make note of rookie Easton Cowan, who found a way to be relevant and impress Berube, who was on ice for 12 shots on goal. Forward William Nylander was a different story:
"Willy needs more shots, he doesn't have enough shots," said Berube. "In Detroit he didn't have any, had one or two tonight, he needs to attack more, he needs to shoot more, he's gotta get on the inside more and things like that."

Berube's pointed comments were enough to remove any doubts that the team needed more from Nylander.
"Yes, we do need more out of him," said Berube flatly when speaking of Nylander's play so far this season.

William Nylander would finish the game with a -2, 2 shots on goal, 1 blocked shot, and 2 giveaways, playing 24 shifts today with 19:40 time on ice.
If there's one thing the Maple Leafs need to be successful, it's a thriving William Nylander, and today he failed to produce up to the expectations of a Stanley Cup-winning coach.
The Red Wings put a cherry on top with Mason Appleton scoring the game-winning goal, putting the Maple Leafs' efforts for naught after 60 minutes.
