Original Six franchise faces harsh backlash after ticket pricing release
The Red Wings are facing some backlash from frustrated fans, who aren't happy with the increased prices to attend games for their centennial year at Little Caesars Arena.
It's a year to celebrate for the Red Wings, who have now been in the NHL officially for 100 years.
But not everything is rosy in Detroit, considering the Red Wings have missed the postseason for the last 9 years in a row, which is the longest drought in team history.
Considering that it's the centennial year in the NHL, that's a startling statistic.
The Red Wings will be running promotions for their centennial year all season long, but not all fans are happy with the prices increasing to attend home games at Little Caesars Arena.
The Red Wings will face the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens on October 9 in the home opener, and some fans are shocked at the $267 price for upper level seats.
$267 for nosebleeds? What a way to reward your fans for your Centennial season celebration wow
No one can afford your **** anymore
I would rather be a part of a «historic season» that involves snapping the longest playoff drought in franchise history. I get it's the centennial, but you guys have milked the nostalgia from us fans for far too long without bringing us a winning team.
Red Wings put "Hockeytown" back at center ice
After a fan vote over the summer, the Red Wings announced that the "Hockeytown" logo that was at center ice at Joe Louis Arena for over 20 years
will make a return to Little Caesars Arena.
The moniker will be placed over the new specialized centennial logo, and will be the 1st time that Hockeytown is back on Detroit ice since 2018 in their new venue.
Since 2018, the Red Wings have used a simple team logo and nothing else at center ice.
